Larry Simpson had a Heart Cath done Friday. They found
a stint that was put in a few years ago had not inflated all the way.
The Dr. put a balloon in to fix problem, then inserted a smaller one to fix
the problem. He had 30 percent less pressure in his legs than Heart.
Everything should be fine for now.

Janel Miller is the Madam Chaplain of the Cedar Rapids Auxiliary. She is a member of the Drill & Ritual team, Membership chairman, our bulletin editor and one of our kitchen chairmen.
She was hospitalized on Oct 2 with congestion and a bad cough. Blood work done at that time, determined that she had a heart attack. They found the most severe damage was to the lower portion of her heart. She was released from St Lukes hospital a week later.
She had further testing done in Iowa City over the past several weeks and it was determined that she needed surgery. The Dr's in Iowa City told her that the damage to her heart was caused from her diabetes. Janel is 41 years old and diagnosed with diabetes 15 years ago and she went on insulin 5 years ago. This is just another reason the Eagle's need to support the Diabetes Research Center!
Janel had triple by-pass surgery yesterday in Iowa City and everything went well. The Dr's are already seeing some blood flower returning to the lower part of heart. She will be in Iowa City for at least 7 days and then recuperating at her mother's. She won't be able to drive for 6-8 weeks. I'm sure that she would appreciate some cheering up! Please keep Janel in your thoughts and prayers.
Please send cards to:

Cedar Rapids will also be hosting a benefit for Janel on Sat, Nov 28 beginning at 1pm. After being laid-off for almost a year, she just got back to work and was just starting to get back on her feet when she got sick. Janel has no insurance and now has no income. We want to help her with living expenses and her additional medical expenses.
Thanks so much!

bruised up. Anyway she could still use some cards to cheer her up.

I would like to take this time to update everyone on Dan
Bouressa's condition. As of this morning Pat called me to let me
know the bad news about Dan. He has gangrene in his left foot and
ankle, so the doctors are going to amputate his leg. He is getting
physiological help and they still have to get rid of a lot of fluid
that he is retaining. She thought that they would probably do the
surgery Wednesday sometime, and if anyone would like to send cards
she ask that they be sent to their home address:

Please keep them in your prayers, not only Dan but Pat also.

The medical staff is still watching him closely as they
make the different changes in his treatment. His vitals
have been coming closer to normal.
Thank you for your prayers, and please, keep praying,

Kelly Swancutt is in the Avera Heart Hospital of
South Dakota.
On November 14th, he was put in the hospital with
what was thought to be a heart attack.
He was then transferred to South Dakota. His liver
and kidneys shut down and he was given a 10% chance to
live. Since then, it has been determined he had some
sort of bacterial infection that cause his vital organs
to shut down. His liver and kidneys have come back, but
his heart is at 20%. He is in critical condition.
Kelly has been in the Eagle's many years, served a
president and even an office at state level. Please,
keep Kelly in your prayers.

Just received word that Blanche Wardlow passed away this morning. As you all remember she was 100 yrs old last December 2nd! Mary Ann believes that Blanche didn’t want any services, but if I hear otherwise, I will be sure to let everyone know. I know she is survived by a couple nieces and her church family at Island Methodist Church.
She loved the Eagles and loved to travel and play cards. She was a character in many senses of the word and will truly be missed.

Health up date on the Langtons, Cedar RapidsMy knee is well, no pain (thank goodness) but I still have therapy to do, the muscles are tight and I have to keep working on them. At least I am walking now without a cane or anything. Yeah.
Lowell (Lee) is doing very well. The past blood tests that he has had, the Dr. is VERY satisfied with. The chemo is doing its job.
Steve is now on dialysis, we keep kidding him that he is "losing his butt" he has lost so much fluid that his weight is going down. He does not have the swelling in his face, neck, arms, legs or feet that he had. He is looking very well. It would be wonderful if they could find a kidney for him, maybe soon.
We want to thank EVERYONE who sent cards, e-mails, phoned or just of us. Your thoughts, prayers and words were wonderful. THANK YOU ALL

hope that this is just a precaution and not a rejection. There
will be many tests taken again to find out for sure what is wrong.

First of all, Western Zone -
Due to work and my latest health issues, I will not be able to attend Western
Zone in Sioux City. Sorry, I
really want to be there.
Second, Latest health status -
As some of you know, I have been having very bad headaches for the past several
weeks. I went to the
Emergency room last Friday afternoon (9/21) where they gave me a medication
through I.V. then admitted me
until Sunday afternoon with additional pill form medications and a lot of
probable bad news.
Throughout the next few weeks, at least, I will be having several test done and
massive doses of drug. I
will be having blood tests, Ultrasound, Biobsy, etc.
So, in other words, the U of I Transplant office is currently thinking that my
latest transplant is now
rejecting. These tests will determine to what extent and how urgent it is.
Thank you for your emails & calls I appreciate them, they really cheer me up.
Further word will come out as things develop.
